Nocturnes

The starting point for Nocturnes series was Pola Dwurnik’s ski accident in 2002. As a result four metal screws were inserted into her spine. A few months after the surgery the artist painted her self-portrait based on an x-ray picture of her spine and the idea for the series emerged.
