The starting point for these series was Pola Dwurnik's ski accident in 2002, when four screws were put into her spine.
During the rehabilitation, a few months after the accident, the artist painted her self-portrait based on an x-ray picture
of her spine.
The first three oil paintings were based on x-rays of the artist's body, later she started using other people's body x-rays.
